This trench Panorama was on April 17, 1915 close to Gravenstafel, Belgium north of Ypres, just five days before the Second Battle of Ypres broke out. Several thousand Canadian troops may have already moved into the trenches that are visible on the far hillside to the left of Bellevue. This included the 8th Battalion which Thomas Walker served in. This remarkable image was part of a series of intelligence photos taken by the British Army during the war to assess German positions. It is used courtesy of the Imperial War Museum.
